THERMIT REPAIR WELDING
The Thermit process has advantages in the repair welding of broken heavy machinery and plant parts. For instance, rolls of rolling mills, crank shafts, gears, steel mill housings, ship frames, cement kiln tires and other heavy machinery.
Our process is quite simple and easy to use. It does not require any sophisticated machinery and equipment. Therefore it has been widely accepted by engineers for the repair of heavy machine parts.
Compared to other methods like metal arc welding and gas welding, Thermit Repair Welding can claim the following advantages:
|Less time is required in repairing since one shot molten steel is poured for joining.|
|Down time of the plant is reduced. Since the process is faster, the lead time required for replacement is not required.|
|Comparable chemistry of weld metal with that of parent metal is consistently achieved.|
|All medium carbon and low alloy steel components can be welded. (UTS: 50-100 Kgf/mm2).|
|Most economical for repairing shafts etc. with a ruling section of over 6500 sq. mm.|
|Repair welding can be undertaken at our works or at the client site.|
